NEW YORK -- Orioles Minor League catcher Michael Ohlman was suspended on Tuesday after violating the Minor League drug program for a second time.

Ohlman, 21, will miss his next 50 games after a second violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program for a drug of abuse, the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced. The ban will be effective immediately.

The Bradenton, Fla., native, a 2011 South Atlantic League All-Star, is currently on the 7-Day disabled list for Class A Delmarva with a right shoulder injury and has yet to appear in a game this season.

Baltimore's 11th-round pick in 2009 out of Lakewood Ranch (Fla.) High School, Ohlman spent the 2011 season with the Shorebirds, where he finished batting .224 with four homers, 51 RBIs, 15 doubles and a .320 on-base percentage.

The 6-foot-4 right-handed swinging Ohlman debuted in 2009 with the O's Gulf Coast League affiliate before splitting the 2010 season between Rookie-level Bluefield and Delmarva.

Minor Leaguers are warned after testing positive for a drug of abuse and then suspended after a second violation. The Commissioner's Office does not disclose the specific substance in these cases. Substances considered "drugs of abuse" by Major League Baseball include cocaine, marijuana, heroin, LSD, ecstasy and other opiates.

The Office of the Commissioner has suspended 32 players this year for violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
